Special office tasks may require special or customized office furniture. For example, a draftsman or a data entry clerk will require a unique set of desks and chairs. A draftsman will need a larger work surface to hold the computer and an area to layout drawings, notes and sketches. A data entry clerk who spends eight hours or more at a computer constantly entering data will require an ergonomically correct environment. This will help reduce stress, fatigue and it will reduce repetitive motion injuries such as carpel tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and bursitis. In addition, it will also increase efficiency and accuracy.

If you are setting up a home office, then a multifunction desk will save you money and space. These desks not only provide a work surface and a place for your computer, they can also integrate storage, file cabinets, printer/fax machine, shelves and more.
