Definition: Socially engineered malware
uses a website that looks benign but convinces visitors to download and execute a piece of software that has malicious intent. Usually this software forwards personal information that is used in identity theft operations. Examples include:
- Screen savers
- Video player upgrades
- Free games
- Free virus removal programs
